Can’t catch up

OK, so I’ve really been hammered this semester. I don’t really know why but I have just been way too busy since Fall rolled around. Not to fear though because Becky has been going in overdrive on her blog. So, make sure you bookmark her site and visit there more often than here because she’s done a ton of updates lately. So, enjoy while I try and catch up with all the posts that I’m behind.

Peace out!

Diabetes Walk

It’s time for our fall family tradition, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes. We walk every year, but every other year we try to collect a few donations. Becky is way ahead me on that end, as she’s already been doing this the past several days. She’s even recruited another ‘team member’ who will be walking with us (thanks Abbi). So head on over to Becky’s walk page for a visit and donate if you’d like to. Thanks to all of you who’ve already donated. We really appreciate it!

And, if you haven’t been visiting Becky’s blog (and why haven’t you, she updates more often than me, plus her stories are better as well) then head on over there and catch up on all the stuff you’ve missed.

California… know’s how to party

And soon Melissa will to. I hope I’m not spilling the beans to anyone that our sis hasn’t spoken to yet. If I am, oh well, maybe you should give her a call and speak to her more than once a year. Anyway, I’ve given her a couple days leeway so it should be all good. So, if you’ve not heard, Melissa’s trip to San Diego went extremely well, so well in fact that she will become a full-fledged SoCal-er in a few short days. And guess what! Lucky for us boys in the family, the company is moving her for us! I don’t know what’s more exciting, the prospect of Melissa moving to San Diego for a new job, or the fact we won’t have to help relocate her library. It’s been a couple years for me but believe me, you’ll never forget an experience like that. Congrats sis! Good luck and expect visitors!

New number

Hey everyone, I got a call on the cell last night on the way to the library. It was Pops, letting me know that his cell phone number is going to change. What’s it changing to? Well of course I wouldn’t give that out over the public internet. Let’s just say if you haven’t spoken to him in the past couple of days you may want to give him a call. Good luck Pops!

4th of July

Check this out. Twice now I’ve gotten photos up pretty quickly. Here’s our set for our Independence Day activities.

4th of July

Our day included driving out to Kehoe Farm in Clinton, MI. It’s owned by one of Jere’s coworkers and her husband. We enjoyed good food, games, a performance by Gordo the Magician, and what Ashlee had been waiting for all week… pony rides! Ashlee got to ride 3 or 4 times I think, including the last ride of the day where I guess the pony got to run just a bit.

We didn’t go to any fireworks this year but that’s fine as we have three neighbors (across the street, down the street, and behind us) that seem to be competing more and more each year for who can put on the most spectacular display. Our neighbor down the street is usually the best, he’s been doing it the longest. They always host an all day barbecue at their house for the whole neighborhood capped off the the fireworks display after dusk. I think I decided we really don’t ever need to go anywhere as the fireworks on our own block were just as good and the parking is even better.

We also lit our small fireworks and played with sparklers and finger poppers. The kids had fun, got to stay up late, and I even zonked out before midnight. So, enjoy the pics.

What is the world coming to?

So I’m reading through my New Music Tuesday email from the iTunes Store, and I noticed that the latest Hannah Montana offering is the #1 album. Are you kidding me, there’s not enough other stuff out there? I guess I didn’t realize that there were that many Hannah Montana fans out there. I mean, I figured there were some that actually watch the show, but enough to get a #1 album? Wow, good for Disney?

And here come the comments, “She’s got such good music, good show, roll model, blah, blah, blah.” Spare me…

Modern day lingo

No, I am not talking about an updated, modern day, 20 cow movie. I’m talking about how the kids of Nick’s generation are already hip to the latest internet lingo. Nick knows that the word for putting something up on your blog is a ‘post’. And that a blog is a place you can record things that happened, thoughts you had, opinions, and such. Well, at this evening’s FHE, Becky talked about the word ‘remember’ and how President Kimball mentioned it was one of the most important words in the dictionary. When she asked what was something we could do now to help us remember something in the future, Nick said, “We could post it in our journal.”

Michigan Challenge

In an almost unprecedented move, I’ve actually posted some pictures within 24 hours of taking them. We went to the Howell balloon festival yesterday (officially the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest). They’ve got a ton of shows, events, exhibits, a carnival, etc. We’ve gone before, but we’ve never stayed for the evening festivities, mainly including the balloons ‘glowing’ after dark and the night time jump by some skydivers. So we decided yesterday to go later in the evening so we could catch the after dark stuff. Luckily, as you can see from the pictures, we ran into another family from the ward so the kids were able to entertain each other while waiting.
