Interesting tidbits from the world wide web.
iTunes & QuickTime updates
Just a word of warning…
Some people, particularly those running 10.3.9 (which most of us are), are experiencing some severe disk problems with the new update to iTunes, version 6.0.2. So, my advice for now is to stay clear of this update until things get figured out.
You can read more about some of these issues at Macintouch and at MacFixit.
Musictheory.net
I found another very interesting site that teaches music through some very well produced Flash tutorials. For instance, I didn’t know there was an algorithm to produce scales. Now that I know, I can do a correct scale starting with pretty much any key, something I had no clue about 15 minutes ago. Anyway, here’s the site:
And by the way, the algorithm is whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step.
A Christmas Song For Your Listening Pleasure
I actually heard this song for the first time this holiday season on my way in to work. Enjoy! www.starterupsteve.com/swf/burgerking.html
Native Music Podcast
So I haven’t given my big podcast spiel yet and how I don’t listen to broadcast radio anymore, I listen to podcasts (almost like my TV viewing is decreasing as I find more and more video podcasts). Anyway, more on that later…
I ran across the Native Music Podcast from a promo played at the end of one off my regularly listened to podcasts (the MacCast). I haven’t listened to an episode yet, but the promo sounded very interesting and something some of us might enjoy.
Storynory
I came across this nice little sight full of children’s stories in audio format. The file are mp3s, so they should work with an iPod or just about any mp3 player.
Elf
So far I’ve only made it to level 3…
Mac OS X Services
I already knew about this powerful feature, but for those of you running OS X, and may not know, read up on some of the useful things that can be accomplished via the Services menu item.
Identity 2.0
I’d never even heard of Identity 2.0, but I was sent a link to this presentation from one of the email lists I belong to. It’s an excellent presentation, showing simplicity, and good use of graphics to go along with a presentation. This is how presentations should look. Even if you don’t agree, or don’t like the particular pitch, the presentation itself is worth watching.

And if you’re interested in preparing a good presentation (ie. no bullet lists), check out Presentation Zen. Full of very interesting ideas.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2
Just ran across this today. Should be pretty fun. Hopefully as good as the first…
